Historical Works
These works were inspired by and pay homage to those who settled in the Tetons as early pioneers of mountaineering, skiing, farming, and raising families in the shadow of the mountains, where winters were long, and summers were inspiring. Thank you to the Teton Valley Museum and BYU-I for access to historical photographs, and to Teton Arts for providing a venue and inspiration to carry out this project.
Homesteads
These works are about capturing a window into the historic west before it physically slips away. I’ve seen beautiful barns and historic cabins disintegrate and/or be dismantled – changing the landscape yet again with their disappearance. Having grown up in a two-room cabin with no running water or electricity in Montana and in the Tetons, it’s easy to imagine the hardships and necessity behind daily chores, big winters, and rural living. It’s natural to wonder about the people who lived in that time, their mark on the land and in time, and the nature of an ever-changing place.

These works are an amalgamation of years of work, primarily focused in Montana, Idaho, and Alaska – my west.
